Where to Get Cheap Web Hosting

Autor: umakant

Now a day there is a fierce competition to provide a plethora of hosting services. There are companies just vying to gain your business. Most of them offer web hosting services for free. You might wonder where the catch is, until you consider the numerous advertisements that pop up on your site. This can be a put off for many visitors who come to your site. They may look elsewhere because of the irritating pop-ups or adverts that keep coming up. So how does one avoid the consequences of free website hosting services? By opting for paid but cheaper hosting services of course!

That brings us to the next question – where to get cheap web hosting? There are plenty of companies that offer cheap hosting solutions. However there are several tricks to help you decide which the best one for you is.

Space. The first requirement is space. If you happen to have files that occupy too much disk space or bandwidth, then it’s best to choose a company that offers a large site that enables downloads too.

Email. Most web hosting companies will provide email support free of cost. One thing to remember while considering where to get cheap hosting is that storage and viewing of emails will surely take up disk space.

Customer Service. Most web hosting service providers are notorious in their customer support. Therefore, it helps to choose a vendor that has good support.

Downtime Issues. The last thing you want is for your website to experience downtime issues. So while looking for where to get cheap hosting consider the amount of uptime your host will provide you. Uptime should ideally be 99.5% to qualify a hosting provider as being good. That means, your site will be inaccessible for at most 7.2 minutes in a day.

E-Commerce Hosting - Factors to Consider

Autor: rcallaby

So you have decided to take the plunge and take your business on the web. This most likely means you will need a reliable hosting service to host your e-Commerce website. What are the key factors that you should consider when considering various web hosting companies?

When considering a web hosting service you should consider at least three factors, how reliable the service actually is, how knowledgeable and prompt are their support staff and what is the actual cost of using this service. Let's break down each factor and really consider this situation in depth.

The reliability of the web hosting service is perhaps the most important to your business as a unreliable service can seriously hamper the reputation of your business. So how do you determine if a host is actually reliable? The first and perhaps the easiest way is to join a public newsgroup of web developers and simply ask them who they use to host their websites.
For instance if you should want to use a ASP/ASP.Net hosting service I would go to asp.net and simply ask who is the most reliable hosting service. Also, searching through these newsgroups will reveal quite a lot of information regarding how knowledgably and helpful the support staff is as well. Simply stay away from hosting providers that have a poor reputation as those service companies most likely are only concerned with separating your money from your wallet and not actually helping you grow your business.

How do you determine which service has the most knowledgeable and helpful staff? This one is again fairly easy to determine. If the staff of the company takes the time to answer questions on public newsgroups and is willing to share their time and knowledge to help out others then this is the company you should utilize. For instance I have noticed that on some public newsgroups or forums many of the questions being answered are from various web hosting services. This not only reinforces their reputation of being really knowledgeable and helpful but it allows the company to get some "free advertising" as well.

Lastly is the cost factor to consider. There are many low cost web hosting providers out there. All you have to do is a search on Google and you will obtain potentially millions of hits on that key term. However, even low cost web hosting services can turn out to be expensive when you consider the various add-ons that you may have to attach to your website to make it truly useful to you. So therefore when considering a web hosting service write down your exact requirements you need to make your website run. Also consider the amount of growth that you anticipate when using this website. A website that may work for you now may not work for you in the near future if your business should really take off and you have not factored that consideration into account. Also take into account any cost of upgrading your service should you outgrow it or you need to move to a high end hosting solution.

When considering a e-Commerce hosting service or any web hosting service these are the key factors to consider before making any purchase. While certainly not an exhaustive listing of everything you need to consider this should get you on the right path to narrow your choices down to at least three or four services.

Why Generic Domain Names Attract More Search Engine Traffic

By: Abe Cherian

Investing in a quality Generic Domain Name is the most effective and long lasting Marketing Strategy for your
Internet based operation.

Tool will Help you to find domains:

Download Now (435.5K)

In today's competitive online marketplace, it's increasingly difficult to get your website noticed or even seen by your prospective customers.

Unless you are a large company with tens of thousands of dollars to spend on advertising and search engine optimization -- you may end up in the bottomless pit of huge search engine databases and never get the attention you deserve...

Now, there is an easier way to get noticed and attract millions of search engine visitors starting from day one.

The choice of your Domain Name is the most important

Marketing Strategy you'll ever make to help you to rank higher on thousands of Search Engines and attract millions
of visitors each year.

The truth is, websites with Generic Keywords in their domain name WILL list higher (in the first 20 listings on top
Search Engines) than the most optimized websites and is easier to find on top Search Engines.

Before purchasing a domain name, there are many things to consider. In order to be seen by buyers when they are using a search engine to look for a product or service, it is essential that your website be one of the first 20 or so
listed. One of the best ways to insure this, is to use a GENERIC domain name for your website.

For Example...

Using a search engine is very similar to looking up a product or service in the Yellow Pages of your local phone
book - under the generic name of the product/service you will find companies that have what you are looking for.
Similarly, on the internet, some search engines list websites by how closely the website name compares to the
item being searched for.

If your business name is ABC Corp. and you are in the business of selling 'Baby Toys' online. You'll drive
thousand times more targeted traffic if your Domain names includes your "Main Key Word" on it like:

TopBabyToys.com
JustBabyToys.com
CustomBabyToys.com
AmericanBabyToys.com
UltimateBabyToys.com or,
ABCKidsToys.com; Instead of your brand name ABCCORP.COM.

A good generic domain name can put you way ahead of your competition in the search engines, and, can literally be worth many millions of dollars.

In the past, some companies believed that company recognition was the key and were willing to pay a lot of
money to obtain this. The internet, however, is changing the way that knowledgeable company executives are attracting buyers.

Unless you are willing to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on advertising, it is much more important to select
a generic domain name that identifies the product or services you provide to users on your website.

With a GENERIC domain name and a programmer who understands the importance of generic keys to search engine spiders, your website can be way above your competition on internet search engines.

How to Choose a Web Host Server

By Cynthia Wang - Tan

Setting up a website is not as simple as it seems. Some people think it is just about the concept, and then design and choose a domain name and forget that if you want to be successful in your web business, your web host server choice is a very important part of your preliminary decisions. If you really hope to see your website up 99.9% of the time, then you have to do some research to decide which web hosting company is appropriate for your business.

In the next few paragraphs, we will look at the basic information you should look for before setting out for a web hosting company to host your site.

Domain Name: A domain name is a sequence of letters and numbers which determine the address of your site. You can either get your domain name separate from the web hosting or together with your web hosting. Most web hosting companies' gives a domain name free to all new clients. The next step is to make sure that the server you want to buy actually supports the kind of website your designer is building.

Websites are designed with HTML, ASP or PHP. Also, make sure that if your site is database driven, it supports either SQL, or MYSQL. These are programming languages used in website design and development. A good way to know whether the hosting company you want to use has these softwares installed is to look at their hosting features which is usually very visible on their website. Currently PHP is the best and most commonly used programming language for the web.

Shared (Virtual) Web Hosting Or Dedicated Server Hosting

Shared (or virtual) web hosting is the most fitting way of hosting for 99% of web sites. It means that a web hosting company will have one or more servers (computers constantly connected to the Internet that run a web server software such as Apache or IIS) that will be running multiple web sites (it will be shared). Unless a web site is exceptionally busy or requires a lot of bandwidth, this is the least expensive way to get a real web site.

You can still have your own IP address with virtual hosting and the site won't look any different to users. Other options are dedicated, co-location, or doing it yourself web hosting. In those options you have the whole computer to yourself and you can do things like install your own software. This requires advanced knowledge in server management. The most important issue here is that, it is very expensive too. While shared hosting will only cast about $100 a year, dedicated servers will go for about $800 to $1000 yearly.

So if you are planning a site that will be extremely busy like yahoo, MySpace, Facebook etc., you will need a dedicated server. Make sure there will be no forced advertising on your site.
Some web hosting companies offer you a lot of free stuffs, like domain name, free email etc only to get bordered with unwanted and unrelated adverts on your site. Some deceive you and you end up finding out that you have to pay separately for a webmail installation on the server. I had a bad experience once with mister.net. They sell a domain name for $50 and promise you free web hosting. I later found out that I have to pay an extra $50 to a mysql account and another $50 for webmail. The server was virtually bare with just disk space and bandwidth. No software whatsoever was installed. If you find yourself in this situation it can be really frustrating especially that you will finally have to dump them for another one.

How Much Disk Space is on Offer?

Space is the amount of "stuff" you can put on your web site. Available space is usually listed in megabytes or gigabytes. HTML files are usually rather small (this file is about 25,000 bytes) but pictures and programs can get quite big. If you want to run a pictures website or video streaming website, you will need a web hosting that can provide enough disk space and monthly bandwidth. Your scripts, emails and stats will also take up space on your host.

Transfer is the amount of "stuff" that visitors to your site can download before you reach your monthly limit.

How do I pay for web hosting?

Some web hosting accepts just one type of payment method. It is good to select a web host that accepts at least up to three or four payment method. The reason is that, due to so much fraud online, these online payment merchants reviews their policies too frequently and Paypal for instance may limit your account just when you web hosting bill is due. You should be able to pay with alternative means. The methods of payment which my recommended web host companies accept are credit cards such as Visa and MasterCard and several others. The same amount will be charged to your account every month on the same day.

How reliable is their Server?

Uptime is the percentage of time that a web site is working. For example, if some host has an uptime average of 99.86%, this means that your site will be down for a total about 1 hour each month. The best web hosting servers are able to average 99.9%. Many of them don't even have a down time, but can not claim 100% uptime so need to be realistic so they claim 99.9%.

Do I need Stats?

You don't want to spend extra to keep tract of your website visitors' stats and other stats. Cpanel X comes with webilizer software that allows you to monitor your site traffic. You will need this especially if you plan to sell advertisement on your website as you will need it to prove that your site is the ideal place for them to advertise.

If will also help to know where people are visiting your site from allowing you to know whether your marketing is working or not. It's very good practice to monitor the amount of unique visitors or sessions that your website receives on a daily, weekly or monthly bases. The stats also tell you how long a visitor stays on your web page and how many pages he visits. This will give you some clues to how you might need to improve or modify your website. So my advice is whatever web hosting you choose should be able to offer this service alongside.

Cheaper Is Not Better

Finally, I won't recommend that you should assume all cheap web hosting is bad because most are actually very good. The only thing is that, there are levels of support you may not receive because of the cheap plan you are using. Some companies for example offers instant chat support to advanced plan customers only. While others have to make do with email support only.

3 Things the Best Web Hosting Service Provides

By Garen Arnold

Commonly, webmasters are seeking the best web hosting services that will allow them to store their data, support javascript, php, ajax, MySQL, etc. There are tons and tons of web hosting companies out there so how do you choose the one that is right for you? A good web hosting service must provide adequate space, provide customer service, and be easy to navigate.

Server Space

Believe it not the amount of data that a hosting company allows you, comes into factor when you are deciding what web hosting service is right for you. Some companies limited you to certain amount of space, but other companies don't put a cap on it. Bandwidth is important because the higher the bandwidth the more people can access your site at the same time. Web hosting companies that offer a low bandwidth limit will cause your pages to run slow or lag.

Customer Service

Lets face it when you are having problems managing your domains, web hosting, ect. Sometimes it is just easier to ask someone for assistance. Videos tutorials are a great resource when you are stumped. It can save you from confusion, nightmares, and from pulling your hair out. Many web hosting companies offer live online or telephone support. A good web hosting provider will assist you 24/7.

Ease of Use

Another area I would like to touch upon is ease of use. How easy is it to host your domains on a host? Is there a limit to the amount of domains you can host with your company? Personally, if I can't figure out how to do something I usually get frustrated and quit. Like designing a web page; navigation is a vital part to choosing the right web hosting service.

Web hosting is vital to your web site. Without hosting your site on a server no one could view your site. Hostgator is the best web hosting service available. They offer an unlimited amount of hosting space for 7.99/month. With hostgator you are also allowed to own unlimited domains.

There customer service is truly amazing and they offer 24/7 live help. Check out their service here: http://www.the-best-web-hosting-service.com

Cheap Web Hosting Isn't Always Bad

By Jonathan Baldwin

In life, most things that are cheaper, suffer a lack of quality. Yet it is not always so, and indeed often expensive things are just repackaged garbage that is over-hyped. The web hosting industry is full of this as well.

Among the shared web hosting companies, Netfirms for example, seems to have no monthly billing options, and requires, for the cheapest web hosting that allows more than 1 domain, minimally at least $120 upfront for a year's worth of service, (which comes out to $9.95/mo). The only shorter billing cycle is for the more expensive plan and involves a $25 setup fee which to most is unacceptable. One might expect with such a stringent, inflexible pricing system and a comparatively high cost that it would be a great service loaded full of features. However, the mentioned $9.95 plan only allows a meager 30 MYSQL databases and only 10 FTP accounts. So if you've got 10 or more employees or friends you want to hand out uploading ability to, you'll have to upgrade to the $14.95 racket which still allows at most 50. Compare to any other

Whereas Hostgator seems to offer a comparative plan, that allows monthly billing at the same rate, or significantly cheaper if one purchases it in larger cycles. Yet Hostgator is hailed around the web as one of the best, if not the most, customer friendly web hosting service around. As for features, Hostgator has many, with "unlimited" bandwidth, hard disk space, pop3 accounts, sub domains, even unlimtied ftp accounts and MySQL accounts, which are both quite rare offerings as well. Hostgator also offers more advanced features such as various e-commerce features, such as Private SSL, and software such as Agora cart, osCommerce, ZenCart, and Cub cart. Hostgator also offers Fantastico and the instant creation of various Content Management Systems, blogging systems, forums and other important tools directly from their control panel.

While both services offer the ability to submit tickets on issues, as well as support phone numbers to call, which may or may not have a waiting time, Hostgator shines out above and beyond in that it has 24/7 online chat support. This holds a twofold benefit over the competition which doesn't have it, such as Netfirms. First, most of the time, due to the ability to multi-task, wait for written out questions, and answer them quickly, there is far less waiting time to get an answer to your web hosting problem. Secondly, this reduces significantly the burden on the telephone support system should a customer decide to call there, so in that respect Hostgator wins again.

The comparison between the two has shown a stark contrast, and surely has dispelled the myth and shown that sometimes, cheaper can be better.
